June 8, 1952 ~ December 6, 2019 (age 67)

Obituary

Michael Fields was born to the late Paige and Ruth Fields on June 8, 1952 in the city of Philadelphia.

Michael was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System and graduated from South Philadelphia High School.

He was a long time employee of Hahnemann Hospital where he enjoyed working in the Operating Room. He also was employed by Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and Tucker House Nursing Facility.

Michael loved to dance and was known all over South Philly for his dancing talent. He was also an avid reader and enjoyed all types of books.

He met the love of his life Donna Gardner in 1976 who he took as his bride for life in 1978. As a result of this union they were blessed with two children, Quwanna and Malik.

Michael enjoyed watching football and basketball where he often debated the game with his friends and family.

He was loved in the neighborhood by most of the children as he walked them to and from school. He became a coach for the basketball league at the Hill School which met every Saturday morning. To this day people still refer to him as Coach Mike.

Michael was known as the Chef Extraordinaire for his fried chicken. It was finger lickin' good! The family looked forward to coming over on Sundays just to get some of Michaels chicken.

Michael looked forward to attending church on Sundays. He loved the Smiling Angels Sunday School class where he was given the opportunity to teach. He loved reading and studying the word as he prepared to teach the lesson.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 41 years, Donna, his children, Kareem Nixon, Quwanna and Malik, his grandchildren, Shairah and Dhlynn, his sisters Conchitta Fields, Senora Simms and Hilda Simms, his brothers Herbert Simms, Reginald Simms, brother-in-law Joseph Gardner (Karen), his uncles, Walter Smith (Estelle), David Gardner (Hattie), his Aunts Mary Mason, Constance Gardner, Elaine Gardner, Devonne Gardner, Mary Jackson, Marion Brown (Larry) and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
