Victor Leroy Jackson, was born to Sarah Bouie and John Williams on June 9, 1935 in Meigs, Georgia. He was raised by John and Pieanna Jackson, he therefore took on their name.
Victor received his formal education in the state of Georgia, but soon entered the military at the age of 16. After receiving an honorable, he came to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is where he met Elaine Betts. Victor and Elaine were united on January 4, 1958.
From this union two sons were born, Gregory Leroy and Sheldon Kevin. This union ended in divorce, however they remained a part of each other's lives until Elaine's passing in 2012.
Victor worked for Yellow Cab, Dependable Delivery, Gregory Lewis Trucking and Consolidated Freight. He retired in 2009 from the Board of Education after 20 years of employment. Victor would travel often visiting family and old friends in other states after retiring, he did this more for family reunions. He enjoyed being with his family and was happy with a good game of pinochle.
Victor loved his family and would do what he could to keep things moving forward. He loved and worshipped the Lord and fellowship with various churches.
About 3 years ago his health begin to fail, he was hospitalized several times. Victor finally entered The Delaware Valley Veterans Home. Victor really battled this past year, before the Lord called him home on December 1, 2018.
Victor was The Patriarch of the family. He shared his Wisdom, Strength and Encouragement with his sons and family.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby; and sister, Catherine.
He leaves to cherish memory: sons, Gregory Leroy and Sheldon Kevin; sisters, Olamae Jones and Ruth Roache; one aunt, Louise Roache; stepdaughter, Dora Hoggard; grandchildren, Camryn Lee (Mike), Sherri Sillman (Curtis), Tynika, Devin, Riva and Sheldon; fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of family and longtime friends.
