February 22, 1962 ~ May 14, 2019 (age 57)

                                                                             The Responsible Man

                                                                February 22, 1962 to May 14, 2019

Kenneth U. Upshaw, Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. To the Late Father and Mother Kenneth and Frances Upshaw. From this union four children were born.

After Kenneth U. Upshaw Jr., father and mother had passed away, his father's sister Mrs. Ruby M. Hackett and her husband Mr. George A. Hackett raised all four children.

Kenneth U. Upshaw, Jr. was educated in the Philadelphia Public School System. After graduating from high school, Kenneth Jr. enrolled in Job Corp. His Curriculum was in welding, masonry and carpeting. In addition, Kenneth was a hobbyist, entrepreneur of Fashion for men mostly but at times for women and teenagers and younger children.

Kenneth was very skilled at getting any item for less.

Kenneth was employed at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital as an environmental technician at CHOP research department.

Sad to say Kenneth, his sister and younger brother Kevin lost their dear mother Ruby Hackett, but once again Kenneth's family stepped up to help. His Grandmother Edna Mae Winters helped all the young adults to soldier onward.

Kenneth was a very mild-mannered young man which he inherited from his sweet mother Frances, also Kenneth followed the fine example of his mother Ruby who instilled in him family values with pride and industriousness. So when you combine all those fine attributes with what Kenneth inherited from his father you get a fine young man. Kenneth cherished his friendships just as he loved and nurtured his son Ken'ete Bryant Simms. He taught Ken'ete his son, that he is gifted and black with his fingers forming a peace sign, as you will see in most of his pictures.

Kenneth leaves to mourn his beloved son Ken'ete Bryant Simms, (20 two sisters Titania F. Upshaw and Roxanne A. Upshaw-Bailey, his aunts; Rosalee Cook-Upshaw, Rhonda, Wanda Elam, Denise, Vivian, Patricia, Terri Sams, Margaret Sams and a host of other aunts. Uncles; Zack, George, Mark, Dwight and Gregory. Cousins; Romina, Malik, Dana, Stephanie, Izola, Adriane, Darsell, Eric, Eva, Ivy, Ina Eric, Evan and host of other cousins. His best friends Darryl and Krystal Creamer and a host of other friends and family. Last, but not least; The Mom Coo Gang!

Sorrowfully submitted,
